Makes more sense than when Ford introduced the Mustang on April 17th 1964 as a 1964 model, based on the 1964 Ford Falcon.

Coincidentally, my 1964 GTO Convertible was built on April 17th, 1964.

I worked for a Chevy dealer back then.

In April 1979, the Citation was released as a 1980
