I called the phone number on the Plastikote spray can. After a few voice messages directing me to different numbers, I ended up with the Duplicolor technical help line. A guy named Joe told me that Sherwin Williams, their parent company, bought the Plastikote division of Valspar.
Duplicolor already has their DE1610 and DE1616 Pontiac engine paints, among many other engine colors, so discontinued the entire Plastikote. line. Joe was aware that there is a difference in their Pontiac colors and Plastikote versions 208 and 227. He said he will pass on my suggestion to use the Plastikote formulas as they are more accurate to the original engine colors. But, he said that's not likely to happen.
Here are two manifolds I painted yesterday. The darker one is Duplicolor DE1610. What do you think?
