I wasn't aware of George being a veteran. Even when he formed the Hurst Armed Forces Club there was no mention of his own veteran status. Do you know any more about his military service?

Against his father's wishes, his mother signed the paperwork that he lied about his age. I think he was only 16 when he joined the Navy. he was stationed on an Aircraft carrier. He served ,I think, for 10 years. he got out when he was stationed at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station. He married a local girl and that is how he wound up in my area. When he was in the service at Willow Grove, he used to do engine and transmission swaps for officers and buddies.
