Sorry for your frustrations. You may want to give it another try with some higher quality hardware if you're currently using lower grade stuff. Not saying it'll work, but I'd try all possible avenues of getting it off before giving up.

To answer your earlier question about heat, I wouldn't recommend using heat in that area. Maybe others will have other insights, but I wouldn't risk damaging the plastic and wiring with heat.
