I can't speak for everyone, but I think that most people interested in this manifold would want it cast in aluminum even if a plastic one could work. The idea is to make it look as close to GM as possible to keep the vintage look. A lot of guys who are into our Pontiacs are not as well versed as others on the bathtub intakes and would not be able to tell the differences between an original and a good repop. Of course, the ones following this thread closely could. When you go to a show with other makes, the Chevy, Ford and Mopar guys would be completely fooled. A plastic intake would be a dead giveaway.
