Why are you changing the transmission?

I ask because you've never mentioned the failure of the trans pump.

If the trans pump isn't trashed, the converter didn't balloon. It might have pushed forward due to excessive fluid pressure in the cooler circuit, though. That could wipe the thrust bearing on the crank, but not damage the trans pump.

Any chance this build had a crappy Eagle thrust face on the crank when it was assembled? They were known for that problem years ago. I'm told that's been taken-care-of since then.
