Lumber is not the only thing sky rocketing in price. Steel and aluminum prices are also going crazy. The government in their infinite wisdom raised the tariffs on imported metals and as a result prices at the retail level went up 50% or more. The idea was to stimulate domestic manufacturing but steel and aluminum are commodities and retail at about the same level regardless whether they are imported or domestic. When you buy gas for your car, no one tells you whether the gas was refined from domestic or imported oil but the price at the pump is pretty much the same where ever you buy it.
