I think your interference will just get worse with the Northwind as it is not angle milled at the carb flange like the Torker 2. This will make the front of the carb point up higher in the front compared to the back. This is the only reason I went back to a T2 intake from the north wind as I had too little clearance at the front of the air cleaner with the hood due to the carb being angled instead of level.
