With a 270* loop at the Tranny end - i would want something to ease the friction/wear between cable and sheath.
If you have graphite handy and like it - use it.
If you have synthetic or moly on hand - definitely use it.
But would probably rather go dry , than to use lithium or base grease on these fair weather cars that sit so much.
The 79 400 4spd cars were all 3.23 whether A/C or Non A/C
Mine was A/C
I don't know what was being done with the various 77 78 79 cars with various 305 Chevy option / 301 P option , in regard to axles.
