One of my 409 buddies with all kinds of exotic factory parts (and a complete Mystery Motor, 65 factory Hemi SS car) has the factory blueprints that are the size of a conference table that have the specs for the 409 pistons and codes on it.

could tell us what the letters mean as long as they were consistent across all GM Divisions.
