My 79 has a LS3 in it, 5 speed and other nasty tricks - took it to a road course and it vexxed late model Corvettes and Camaros. 200 pounds off the nose made it a completely different car. Like your son's, mine was sans driveline.

Have him save up for a 600 Series or Delphi steering box; huge difference!
