There were 'no' Stock Eliminator Championships at the 1972

* Springnationals
* Summernationals
* Grandnationals.
Because of extremely low 'Street Stock' participation.

Looks like NHRA did not have it together for the Winter Nationals. And HP came quickly thereafter.
