I was going to mention to get the Johnson (PR) prefix lifters instead of their standard lifters if you have a very aggressive cam. But I don’t think that Butler even offer’s the standard Johnson lifter anymore. But just in case, they do offer the standards, it is probably worth mentioning.

Sometimes people don’t differentiate the 2 Johnson lifter companies either. They have the same looking lifter bodies made by two completely different companies. Hylift Johnson and Johnson. The version that Compcams used for a while were Hylift’s Johnson standard version lifters, those weren’t a great lifter IMHO. At least not for most of of the commonly used cams grinds from Comp. There are a lot of small differences between those brands, and different versions from both companies, all are often just referred to as Johnsons. The S (slow bleed) version of HyLift Johnson with pin oiling was a nice lifter, but hasn’t been made for a few years for a Pontiac. Johnson PR is as close as you can get to those.

You made the right choice IMHO, return those Morels (Howard’s). If you were going to run Morels, run the latest Morel’s introduced last year with the higher Pontiac oil band, not the Howard’s version. Still worth the extra $$$ to step up to the Johnson PR lifters though. JMHO
