Don't think with your cubes and gearing that the T2 will be a problem.
Cubic inches and intake volume determines how fast vacuum signal builds. Correct that with the right strength power valve.

PS edit Need to get exhaust hooked up before you start tweaking the carb. Cam overlap and any exhaust restriction at all can have major changes to the carbs vacuum signal. That's other than a plain old flooding problem.
