It is not even the numbers - the Modular motors did not fit into anything older. I thing when LS's were finding their way into Fox bodied Mustangs Ford saw the challenge.
To me it is not about the most power - always somebody else with more. My 5.3 build using the newest GM LT stuff to me is more practical: mid 20's mileage and 400 horsies. and weighing 400 pound wet - what's not to like? But GM is fixated on the 6.2's and their crappy mileage...
