I thought I would provide a little fitment information on the new bathtub intake into a 62 Catalina. So this is a late model intake fit into a 62 Catalina with a flat, stock hood. This intake has 1/2" spacers and a thin gasket on each side of the spacer. the AFB carburetors are genuine Carter units, 750 CFM with the large diameter air horns. {shorter carbs) With the hood installed and closed, there is approx. 3/4" clearance at the rear carb to the hood and slightly less for the front carb. ( probably about 5/8"). There is NO ROOM for a proper air cleaner of any type. As Tom S has suggested, I am going to install the Ram Air spark arrestor screens over the carbs to keep gravel and large crap out of them. This will be a temporary solution. Future plans call for the factory metal hood scoop being installed for proper clearance and more room to allow air into the carbs. My experience, at least on the dyno, is this manifold is not a happy camper with the carbs directly bolted to the manifold top. But that would gain 1/2" additional clearance. Hope this fitment info helps anyone running one in a Catalina, Grand Prix, or Bonneville.
