I’ve done lots of those quartz kits. Very easy job but the key is pushing really hard on washers when reassembling. They recommend using a small piece of 2x4 in it for the power stud to sit steady and level as you press the three washers onto the studs. I tried without this a few times but now use a wood base as they recommend. Not installing those washers tight enough leads to the adjustment knob not engaging properly
Another good point to obey religiously is to always install the hour and minute hands at exactly 12. If not you likely end of with the hour hand half way between to numbers when the minute hand as at 12.
Last tip, 69 clocks use the red gears in the kit and the kit number is I-3035 from ISI
