Lots of info on the tag, maybe not real useful sometimes?

24237 is for the division series in this case a GTO.
If it had say 23327 and someone said it was a GTO, it would be wrong. But only according to the cowl tag. That's why PHS for Pontiacs is such a great thing.

The number after the BAL (Baltimore plant) 557747 is the body number. But this also can mean different things at different plants.

To the right of the date code - 1 A is a B, which not sure what that means for Baltimore plant.

The numbers after the 'B' - 095669 is probably a code for the Baltimore plant, possibly a unit count of where it was on the line and a date code?
These aren't really known for sure. Also they differ a lot from plant to plant. (some have them some don't)
