This may come as news to you, but cars aren't selling.
Chevy sold about 115,000 Malibu's last year - and it's the only non-performance car they sell today. Cadillac only sold about 10,000 CT4's and 16,000 CT5's.
They sold 212,000 Equinox's (which is actually a crossover, not an SUV). All together, GM sold about 815,000 crossovers. FWIW - the Bolt is a CROSSOVER also - basically an electric Chevy Trax. The Bolt and the Trax had very similar sales numbers - 27,000 for the Bolt EUV and 26,000 for the Trax.
They only sold about 263,000 SUV's (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade).
It appears that GM is planning to build the EV's that the majority of GM customers are most inclined to buy at this at this point in time.
There will be 'cars' in the near future for GM here. They are introducing the Malibu replacement in China for 2024. I would expect that we could see it here in 2025.
