A few weeks ago I was doing some work in my shop. I have my little air compressor up against my shop wall about 3 feet away from the car. I turned it on and went about other business. When I came back, the front of the compressor had walked across the floor from it's vibration. The handle was up against my rear quarter vibrating away. It put a tiny chip in the paint, about 3 mm size. Thankfully no dent. The compressor has never moved like that before. That pissed me off.
But, since I drive the car it does get it's share of chips and the rest of it. That's just the way it goes.
