Is there a way to modify the pickup tube to move it to the back of the tank?
Exactly, on the street usually the mechanical pump works ok cruising around. Unless like your pointing out, the fuel moves away from pick up. Especially if tank is say 1/4 filled. But racing even if on the street with just a mechanical pump Eventually end up with issues. I can remember chasing those issues. Finally to resolve those issues end up sumping tank, and running a Holley blue pump, Eventually as hp grow, ended up having to go with 2 Holly Blue pumps.
