Hitchrider uses a class 3 as example as they have a lot of market in that weight class. Any side clamp has Zero affect on the rating of a hitch, be it towing, or tongue weight. While it may keep a hitch from moving, its not " adding" and class or rating, and its Not Removing any. This is comparable to clamping down air brake lines. Doesn't change the pressure rating of the tubing..
Went through this stuff during extreme cold nylon plow towing.
I would worry more about people using Any Stainless bolts for towing than a simple tie wrap.., yeah it works and its not involved in any risk.
