Agree with you. I have Ross pistons in a similar build with .006" piston to wall. Very little slap cold. It's a solid flat tappet cam and valvetrain noise is mostly what you hear. A real SD-455 is much louder with that wall clearance, must have to do with the alloy used and expansion rate or the cam grind shape on the skirts. You can really hear them slapping around in there! Beautiful noise.
