I couldn't leave it at that.

I dug deeper;
It looks like Standard has revised their cap;
It looks like the DR-429 is the way to go;
The listing page states the contacts are brass.



Twenty years ago, you had to special order (with the local guys) the premium caps - because everyone wanted the cheap stuff;
It looks like Standard only offers the one cap right now.

I didn't see the cheap cap listed for a 1970 GTO, so I looked up an application that wouldn't be performance minded;
I picked a 1974 Chev C10 w/V8 - and found this:



The DR-429 is the good cap;
The DR429T is the cheap cap.

Quite likely one of few '70 Muncie three speed Formula 400's left.


1991 Grand Am: 14.4 @ 93.7mph (DA corrected) (retired DD, stock appearing)
2009 Cobalt SS: 13.9 @ 103mph (current DD; makes something north of 300hp & 350ft/lbs)
