there was a thread awhile ago about this. they were probably using up stock before the changeover if it was intended for a Feb 69 change date. I've never owned or seen an original 69 with the plastic. of course as a punk kid with my first 69, that was the first thing I tore off the car and replaced with the plastic because I was sure it was some hack job from a previous owner! getting tougher to find an original car that hasn't been "fixed" in the last 55 years.
side note, if you're chasing an original screen with the correct contouring vs the junk flat repops - 69 GP used the identical screen. I scored one off ebay a few years ago on a gamble and it was exact.
