Small world. I was a senior at Shadle Park HS that year. My girlfriend and I had spent the night at a friends. Next day we're driving around and like you said, looked like a huge thunderstorm rolling in. Ah, the days before internet/cell phones... much simpler.

I remember everyone saying don't drive in the ash, it'll grenade your engine
