cast iron skillet fried in lard..not oil..you'll chew your fingers trying to get to it..best midwest fried chicken I ever had ('cept for moms, of course)...crispy crust, its thin airy and crumbles and melts in your mouth..not over done or triple dipped egg bathed to hide anything..just enough to get it right...with just a touch of salt and pepper and thats it..it doesnt need anything else but a little shake of salt..and thats debatable..its "real" chicken too..not shed raised and force fed with all the crap that makes chicken big and fatty...its very lean, just like the stuff youd raise at home..good stuff...Ive driven from Lousiville, just to have chicken there..its that good..
but heres my only negative comment... for the chicken to be so good.. the sides..well..they are really bland and..well..not even soul food type stuff..and needed help...and the rolls are store bought, i get it.. but the chicken and chicken fried steak are the stars of the show...for sure..i say its 5+ out of 5....its been a while since ive been there...and i truly miss that place
man..now i want some chicken..and theres NONE in Kansas that can hold a candle to it..and Kansans..I KNOW about our famous chicken joint....it just isnt the same....

Nah, the Chicken House in New Albany, IN (County Line Rd and County 311). Some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten( well, next to my maternal grandmother’s).
