Many years ago I changed the engine in my 1965 GTO and never put the tube for the wires back. 35 miles from home the positive battery cable melted to the exhaust manifold. I managed to pull it loose before it completely melted through the copper. I wedged something between the wire and manifold and got home. After that I knew what the tube was for.
