Saw this story on Facebook earlier.

Back when I was a teen working in Toronto at an Esso station, a customer came running into the shop shouting that someone's stolen his car. He'd used the bathroom and, after returning the key to the office went outside and his car was gone. Everyone went out front to look, and while he described his car as a black '78 Trans Am, I spotted it in the distance across the street, facing us in a massive IBM parking lot.
It had rolled down our lot, across 6 lanes of traffic (very busy Don Mills Rd. for those that know Toronto) over a raised median, between a long line of parked cars and came to rest against a curb in front of their building. When we got there the engine was still running. Not a scratch on it (at least on top).

So yes, I agree. Never trust just your parking brake in a manual shift.
