That pitting is where the mixture is very lean and lights off by just the cylinder pressure the motor has even before the spark comes a long.

Detonation will rattle the Pistons around and unseat if not also crack the rings.

Is it possible to detonate just at idle for a few seconds? The last thing I did before my intake testing was swap my old carburetor on. I tried to start it up and it didnt want to run. Seemed very lean. I had to give it some good throttle to run. With the way that one piston looks with the pitts, is it okay to give it another drive and see what my leak down results are with another tester? Maybe I do add a can of Restore
