Even if you have to trailer the car 100 miles or so it’ll be worth it to have a reputable shop handle the work.
I hauled all of my 421 engine in pieces to someone who’s much more experienced than myself living 110 miles from me. He handled getting the machine work done at his trusted local shop along with doing the painting, assembly and break in before I picked it up several months later.
Otherwise it would have taken me forever or worse yet the engine build would have stalled out and would still be waiting to get done. I don’t have the tools, mindset, clean workspace or enough engine building experience to have ended up with the perfect running leak-free engine I’m now enjoying.
Git’er done, life’s too short.
Seriously if you’re not physically able or lack the proper tools, energy or ambition this is the way.
Again on the tire rub, just buy one size smaller front tires, don’t raise up the front of the car. The old front tires can be either used in the rear later on or sold.
