for 1970 there was both a code number and a UPC code used;
The code number was used on the order sheet;
You should have a copy of the master order sheet if you purchased a PHS packet for your car;
In the middle column-top is the engines section "34" - look there for the following:
- 34-1 is the inline six; UPC not shown because it's standard (and only available) in the base "23" model;
- 34-2 is the 350/2bbl; UPC is shown because it's optional on the base car.
- 34-6 is the 400/2bbl; UPC shown because it's optional on the Esprit.
- 34-5 is the 400/4bbl; UPC not shown because it's not an optional engine (std in Formula)
- 34-8 is the 'Ram Air III'; UPC shown because it's optional on the Formula
- 34-7 is NOT shown, but a blank line is left for it; this was supposed to be a 'super duty' version of the RAIV for 1970 (RPO LS1'); it was supposed to be specific to the Firebird, but it was axed - and later the "regular" L67 from the GTO's was used. I have found nothing indicating that there was no intent to offer it in the Formula (as John typed), but rather, when PMD finally released it as RPO L67, for what ever reason, only 88 were installed in Trans Am's.
