I started "researching" which is usually what I do. Pricing used units, studying assembly diagrams etc. kinda wasted 3-4 hrs. Thankfully didn't buy anything.
When I finally got under the dash and looked at what was going on I found that the trigger latch(not sure actual name) was gummed up with old factory melted lube and not fully engaging. I cleaned and hit with some lube. Working like new.
I never seem to learn to diagnose first. At least lay eyes on it. Anyway an easy fix and I didn't even get dirty.
