Interesting thought. In general restoring my 77 Trans Am has made me realize I’ve been selling my new cars too quickly.

My 77 is daily driver capable with its LS3, modern stereo system and pretty much every mechanical part replaced at this point. My insurance doesn’t technically allow me to drive it more than 2x/week to work but they have no way to track that. Mine is a hardtop which I’d recommend if you were daily driving it.

That being said I’m too paranoid to leave it out in a public parking lot. My work has a secured parking garage so I’m ok driving it to work but not many other places where I have to leave it.

I’d make sure you also have good disc brakes all around. The safety features obviously aren’t as good as modern cars so that’s always the risk you take.

Personally I’d buy a decent modern car and just maintain it well for a long time instead of going with a classic as a daily driver though.
