Good point.
Personally, I run out of the trans, to external cooler, to radiator cooler, and back to trans. I've always reasoned that the external pre-cooler took load off the radiator, and if anything, the radiator could even add excess heat back IN to the trans fluid to get it to normal fluid temp in case it was cold outside.
