We've had standard poodles for more than 25 years and have learned a couple of things that have made a difference.

1) You might think you could never get another after losing one, but if you're a dog person, another dog is the only thing that will buffer the loss. So don't hesitate to get another.

2) Having two dogs is much better than having one. They keep each other company when you're not around and can be a blast to watch as their own relationship develops. And they'll be better socialized to be around other dogs.

We just picked up our 5th two weeks ago, "Chanel Marie", to join "Kai Anne Brianna" after losing the white one - "Sadie Diamond Lil".
