Does the roller on the 3rd lifter with the axle part way out have the bearing out or does it spin yet?

If the bearings were not what failed and the axle crimps let go there was nothing you could have done different to prevent that. That would be a mfg defect. As far as I recall all the companies that make HR lifters use that same style of crimp to hold the axles in. Except Morel, but only after around 2015, they have clips like a SR lifter. Before that they had that crimp style axle lock also.

The Johnson lifters with the PR at the end of the part number is not considered a short travel. They call it a limited travel.

That piston really took a hit. OOF…
