For one thing the damage is right inline with the wrist pin. This is a high stress area when the piston changes direction. It was hit hard enough that I am unable to rotate the wrist pin with my fingers. I'm sure it could be honed but was it weakened because of the deformation? I don't know and not sure I want to take that chance.
