That all sounds great! Who assembled the top end, installed/degreed cam, determined pushrod length, etc? As mentioned already, hopefully a compression test (engine hot) will shed some light on dynamic compression. No sense in pulling anything apart until you've done some testing. A factory 68-72 iron intake should be better than the RPM in your combination, but even so, at high RPMs that engine should be screaming. What does the fuel system consist of? fuel line size, mechanical pump, etc?
