Comparing this old post to what you just wrote is confusing. Can you clarify please?

I had it in my head that setting the lifter clearance at 0.008" COLD would result in 0.010" HOT. Clearly as things get HOT everything tightens up from expansion. I didn't think it through and bother to confirm with more questions.

Cold settings at 0.008" / 0.005" will result in 0.006" / 0.003" +/- when hot, correct?
