There is a learning curve with tuning EFi systems, it takes time to figure stuff out.
Try to remember, the OEs have 10s of 1000s of hours tuning, with sophisticated equipment, and teams of people to do new car ECU maps. It's actually pretty amazing that with the software being provided with these aftermarket systems are as intuitive as they are.
And pretty sure Holley does do work for OEs, which I suspect gives both sides insight.
Holley is a pretty big company, and have lots of money to invest in R&D.
