Unless your dealing with heavy rust issues I would deal with the small problems. I think the newer stuff has many more "planned obsolescence" type problems than the older stuff, JMHO.
I have a 95 Jeep with 265,000 miles on it that I have fixed all the normal mileage related problems and it hasn't let me down.
