Yes a traditional good 2k primer, my painter uses only dupont now axalta brand primers & paints, never had an issue related to the paint or prep on any cars Ive seen that hes done for 25+ years, 1 of my TA's was painted back in 2008 and has no issues with the paint using non epoxy primer, looks almost like the day it was buffed.
Epoxy primers are great and lots of shops use them today, but usually the benefit is on bare metal where it can adhere & seal better than regular primers, can even do body work over it within the allowed time. Maybe some other more experienced painters can comment on using it over existing unknown condition paints or mention what they think about repainting this hood that already has thick paint on it. But with a DA sander, stripping a hood goes pretty quick, whatever primer you decide to use, its best to get as much of that old paint off first, IMO.
