Yeah I definitely considered that.
In my case I was planning using epoxy thinned as sealers both times. But maybe that first case is redundant.
I should say, this is for me. Not a for profit client and while I want it to look good obviously I’m also not looking to put 100 hours into this thing. Maybe I should say “What’s the least wrong way I can do this and get solid results”
Other than a couple chips, the hood now is pretty flat, which is what I didn’t want to give up. I didn’t want to have to block sand the whole thing flat again after I sand it all down. I was also concerned about going too far and getting down into the glass accidentally.
But, I’m probably going to flake this hood and put a paneled graphic into it. Which means multiple layers. So I guess I should remove some of the existing layers…..
I like 2k urethane primer, my only concern with it is long term shrinkage. When I’ve used 2k in the past I’ve let it sit in primer for a while. In this case once I start I want to knock the whole thing out in 2-3 days.
