I know very little about the Pertronics unit, but if it all fits inside the distributor you'll need to bypass the stock "coil resistor" (that's what it is called in the Pontiac wiring diagram, sometimes known as a ballast resistor) so the coil primary terminal (+) has a full 12 volts when in crank and run.
