Working at a Chevy dealership as a line Tech in the late seventies. 1978 Caprice wagon under warranty came in around 08:30 AM for thrust bearing knock. Pulled the engine, flipped it over, pulled the timing cover annd timing set, and replaced the crankshaft and bearings working it in the block with rod bolts covered with short pieces of fuel hose. Buttoned it up and had it ready for the owner by mid-afternoon.
