The '72 Cutlass S I cloned into a 442 for my daughter has an 8.5 bolt in axle, and original to car. It also has the non-tapered ball bear axle bearings.

I decided to go thru it instead of replacing, and I continue to have troubles finding the correct wheel bearings for it. I switched to disc brakes during the upgrade process, and used a 30 spline true-trac and replacement axles (moser/dutchman).

Originally, I tried using A9s in it, and there was significant axle play (in/out). Then finally went back to the ball bearing axle bearing, and it was good.

Fast-forward 10 years later and a friend who was storing the car replaced one wheel seal and bearing, and the axle play returned. Unfortunately I can't find the info regarding the bearing/seal combo I used.

I am now trying to get this car out of storage and need to correct the axle end play/bearing/seal issue again, and would be great if someone could refresh my memory on that....
