I'm going to try to have a look inside my GP's trunk today (it's a been a decade - or four - and when I moved the car to its current spot, I'd already cut out the tail panel, so it hasn't exactly been "hermetically sealed" all this time). Who knows, though? Perhaps the underside of the lid has withstood the test of time better than some other parts (like the interior).
My STS-V has been stuck at a dealership in NJ for over two weeks. My radiator went, dumping all my coolant on the highway, and necessitating a flatbed in the middle of the night (kudos to Hagerty Drivers Club for the flatbed service for a car which isn't even on my list of collector cars covered under my policy). I finally convinced the dealership as to which radiator fits and has the proper trans cooler in it, so I should have her back on Monday. Unlike yours, my '06 is my daily driver. (And talk about questing after parts...compared to the STS-V, our '50's and '60's Pontiacs are a breeze to keep in spares.)
I'll post a follow-up later, if I survive the trunk spelunking.
