I'd say the angled would be if still street driving. If just racing the vertical would be better. Angled you'd have to know what spring rating to get for the angularity. (as said)

I'd also go with whatever length it would take to fit from frame to housing.
(if car is lowered not much room for tall shocks/springs?)
