I tried no rear bar when I was autocrossing my 78 TA with road race slicks -did not like it. Even the WS6 rear bar would be stiff enough to pick up inner rear tire in a hard sharp turn-or a big slanted driveway. I use the small 5/8 rear bar. I do like stiffer front springs like Guldstrand did to combat brake dive and unloading the rear. I tend to go in a little hot 
Standard springs are a pain to get the height just right, several cuts on my TA. I put GW hybrid QA double adjustable coil overs on the front of my 64 Vette project so it is easier. With narrow fenderwells getting tire clearance is a big deal on C2s with height.
